My artwork is a collection of oil, watercolor, and mixed media paintings. I have made artwork in multiple mediums exploring various themes. Themes I often explore are of absence, family, time, ambiguity, nostalgia, isolation and the unknown. My work is often inspired by literature that relates to those themes. This installation collects and integrates a variety of work, containing a panoramic sequence of minimal seascapes. The transition from light to dark across the installation creates an atmospheric space. Beneath the seascape, contains imagery associated with being under the ocean’s depths. This is the main theme and unifying element in my body of work. My installation is a personal narrative comparing the literal theme of depth to psychological depths. “Crossing the Bar” exposes the depths of loss while preserving the memory of my deceased father. Yet, above those depths, I have discovered a sense of peace and tranquility.
